Detroit Lions Report: Lions Trade for Offensive Lineman Rob Sims
Posted by Joe in Detroit Lions Football on April 7th, 2010
The Detroit Lions traded for starting Left Guard Robb Sims over the weekend. The Lineman was traded form Seattle for a 5th round pick. Sims started 14 games last year for the Seahawks and has been regarded as one of the leagues best pass blocking guards.
This was a hell of a move by General Manager Martin Mayhew, who continues to prove his mettle by making another solid football decision. The Offensive Line needed some serious upgrading and this move is certainly a step in the right direction.
Detroit Lions Report: Lions Rumored to be Trading for Rob Sims
Posted by Joe in Detroit Lions Football on April 2nd, 2010
Veteran Guard, Rob Sims signed a 1 year tender with Seattle which could make him available for trade. The Tender calls for a 4th round draft pick in compensation but the Seahawks could take less. Sims is a decent guard and would fill a need at Left or Right Guard for the Lions.
Oddly, Rob Sims is Ernie Sims brother from a different mother (no kidding!). Lions certainly could use a proven commodity at Guard to shore up the offensive line and lessen the need for offensive lineman in the upcoming draft in April. The Lions have the second overall pick.
Detroit Tigers Report: Nate Robertson to be Traded?
Posted by Joe in Detroit Tigers Baseball on March 30th, 2010
Rumors have it that the Tigers are trying to move Nate Robertson in a trade. That means that Jim Leyland is good to go with Dontrelle Willis and Jeremy Bonderman for the 4th and 5th spots in the rotation.
I’m all for trading Nate but good luck with his clearly bloated contract. Nate’s contract is an example of several bad contracts in which players have not performed that Dave Dombrowski and ownership has given several players over the past four years.
Detroit Lions: Jay Cutler Still an Option?
Posted by Joe in Detroit Lions Football on March 11th, 2009
Back in February there were some rumors that Jay Cutler was almost traded to the Lions. At that time I was thinking: damn that’d be sweet. It would have fixed one of the Lions’ major problems: whose going to play quarterback, and do we need to draft one #1 overall this year?
Well, rumors were reported (even though I can’t find them in print yet) today on 97.1 The Ticket that Jay Cutler spoke with his new head coach – former New England Patriots Offensive Coordinator Josh McDaniels – recently and that it “did not go well”.
Man, I’d trade the #1 pick today, right now for Jay Cutler. Why?? Because we’d know who is starting, he’s a proven decent Quarterback – and, we would not have to commit the 50 million dollar contract to Georgia’s Matt Stafford or some other player whose not proven.
If they do end up keeping the pick, neither QB (Stafford or USC’s Mark Sanchez) are #1 draft picks anyways and I would draft Aaron Curry.
Please, please get Jay Cutler!
Detroit Lions: Jon Kitna Traded to Dallas for Anthony Henry
Posted by Joe in Detroit Lions Football on February 28th, 2009
Jon Kitna’s finally out of Detroit. The Lions have traded last year’s the sideline cancer, the Halloween Trickster and Devout Christian to the Dallas Cowboys for a decent Cornerback in Anthony Henry. The Lions put Kitna on IR last year, after he exploded on the sideline during a game while arguing and looking like a baby.
Goodbye… good riddance, good luck, god bless.
I love this trade. What’s up with Maring Mayhew and the Cowboys? So far, Martin Mayhew has made all the right moves in my opinion. Way to go, keep giving away our garbage to the Cowboys for quality players and draft picks.
Wow… so far, this is awesome!
