I read about this story in the Detroit News and its just a very unfortunate circumstance.  Hockey’s a rough game, but no one wants to hear about something like this happening.  The player is 16 year old Derek Zike, a player on the Chicago AAA club The Fury.  Zike suffered a neck injury when he lost an edge and slid into the boards at the Ann Arbor Ice Cube on Jan. 16th.
